Some good news

My mum met with the oncologist and radiologist yesterday. She has decided to proceed with a three week aggressive radiation course which should help slow the growth of the tumour. Right now they say, if this works, then there is an 80% chance she could live for around 8 months - which a lot better than the 2-4 months they were originally saying.

She starts treatment on Tuesday.

I have been having a really difficult time with this diagnosis. I couldn't go to work Monday, Tuesday I was sent home to take care of myself (was crying from about 8am to 1pm), Wednesday I took the advice from my boss and took care of myself. This morning I just wanted to stay in bed. As you are aware, I suffer from depression, and I am very afraid that over the next year I'll one day hit that wall again and it'll be really tough to break it down. I hope that posting about my experiences will help me cope and deal with the issues at hand.

My brother, his wife and newborn daughter are flying over from England later this month to stay with my parents and help out. I have been seeking baby items to help them out - and I have the most amazing friends anyone could ask for. My friends are letting my brother borrow a car seat, play pen, sleepers, a bumbo...you name it and someone will be dropping it by for him to use. They make me cry knowing the support and love they have.

Thank you all of you for your help and support. I'll keep you posted as things happen.
